'My fans should accept me the way I am'

After a series of flops and average films, 14 movie old Prabhas is happy over the response his latest film Darling has evoked at the box office. Riding high on success, this 'young rebel star' as he is popularly titled has signed two movies. While the critics claim his movies have become cliched, the actor confesses that his previous films didn't do this well perhaps becuase they were not treated well.

"I have had about six hits in my fourteen movie career. If my movies didn't do well in the last few years it could be because I chose wrong subjects or the treatment of the story by the maker was bad. But I am glad this movie worked for me" he candidly admits. The actor has signed a movie with director Rajamouli and another movie with Dasarath as director refuses to admit that young actors like him do movies only with established directors as they are not confident of themselves.

"Young actors sign up movies with established directors because we are confident they will bring out a better product.I did act with new directors and the ones with flops but those movies didn't do well.I don't know what goes wrong with me and new directors. Nevertheless, I am all for acting in a movie directed by a fresher because they have fresh ideas" he claims.

Known for his macho mass image, Prabhas says since a few of hismovies projecting him in mass heroic charecter were a hit, there is a danger of being typecast which is why he is now keen on shedding that mass image. One of those heroes in Tollywood who second guesses what the audience expect from him, he reveals that his fans can't see him die in the movie if it is not projected well and hence can't act in certain roles. He says he is all out to do family entertainers and romcoms to ensure he is not entangled in the image trap.

"I have done the macho man, heroic roles in movies like Chatrapathi and they were a hit. If I continue to do similar movies, people will be bored of me.But at the same time, my fans expect certain fights in my movies.I did movies like Chakram in which I die. But that movie failed. I am therefore working in flicks that have a balance of both fights and family entertainment. Infact my latest release Darling is also a risk but fortunately it worked at the box office. If I have to do a movie I think will not work for my image, I will do it with less budget so that distributors are not put to loss"

Playing safe on the demand from producers to cut remunerations, Prabhas says he is willing to accept any deciscion taken by the industry. The young actor who claims is a good friend of Allu Arjun, Puri Jagannath and Gopichand declares that he is not a party animal. He says while there is competition among young heroes in the industry, they don't let it creep into their relationship off the sets.

"There is severe competition among heroes now and that is good. But once we are out of sets, we don't take each other as competitors. If we percieve each hero as competitor, we can't talk to anyone."

"I do party but with my close friends at home.I rarely go to pubs. I used to party a lot outside earlier. But now I have stopped. I am not a controlled decent chap once I am done with the shooting and am partying with friends.I do enjoy but only with select friends at home"The actor who maintains low profile and limits his public appearances is criticised of looking recession-hit in many public dos. Fashionistas in the city rate him all time low on the appearance part in his few public appearances. The actor however says his fans should accept him the way he looks.

"My fans should accept me the way I look. I dress up well if I am in a good mood. Most often I am lazy and end up going in whatever attire I feel like then. I am sure fans will like me because I certainly look above average even without starry clothes and make up. In the movies I am al lset to entertain them with different attires. But offscreen, I am most often natural" he concludes
